A few changes - Why I'm Niching Down (and Why It's the Right Time)

A few changes - Why I'm Niching Down (and Why It's the Right Time)

For years now, I’ve poured myself into all corners of creative photography—portraits, styled shoots, studio lighting, costumes, wigs, smoke, and sparkles. And I still absolutely love it all. That’s not going anywhere. My creative portraits and hands-on workshops will continue, bold and fabulous as ever. But something’s been tugging at me quietly for a while now.

Still life…

It’s slow, quiet, thoughtful. It gives me space to breathe, to reset. It’s where I retreat when I need to reconnect with my creativity—not perform it. It’s also one of the most requested topics I get asked about, especially from those who want to explore photography but feel overwhelmed by people, posing, or pressure. I immersed myself in Still Life during the lockdowns, but I feel it tugging at me again.

So I’ve made the decision to give it a home of its own: Still Life with Julie.

Why niche down? Because clarity matters—for me and for you. By giving still life its own dedicated space, I can speak directly to that curious, creative soul inside you who wants to slow down, observe the light, and shoot with intention. This new channel will focus purely on the art of still life photography—tips, tutorials, behind-the-scenes, inspiration, and how to find beauty in the everyday. Just pretty pictures, and how to create them. It will be quiet and intentional, just like my Still Life.

It doesn’t mean I’m abandoning the rest—it just means I’m letting still life breathe on its own.

And yes, I’m starting fresh. You’ll find me popping up with a brand new Facebook Page, a new Instagram feed, and a YouTube channel, all under the name Still Life with Julie. I’m building it from the ground up, so if this speaks to you—even just a little—I’d love your support. Just now (apart from the blog) there isn’t much new content - but it’s coming!

Please visit, like, follow, subscribe, and share if you feel called to. Every click, comment, and kind word helps this little still life corner of the world grow.

Here’s to a slower, more intentional kind of photography. Let’s create something beautiful.
